So I wrote these books a few years ago, Better Than Yesterday and The Social Climber’s Guide To High School, and reviewers generally didn’t hate them, and ABC Family bought the TV/Film rights, even though I was just a know-nothing college kid. Back then, my whole life was about writing. I even dropped out of college for a year to be a novelist. And then everything changed.
I fell in love, spent time in the Israeli desert, traipsed through Europe, decided to become a doctor, went back to college, became a stand up comedian, developed a shameful crush on organic chemistry, did a lot of college theater, wrote a couple novels, worked in a hospital pharmacy, downloaded a million episodes of Doctor Who, bought a pink mountain bike, joined a fencing academy, and applied to a master’s program in biomedical ethics.
My life is absolutely absurd, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
